Oncore by Clare Smyth is closing – hospitality


Oncore by Clare Smyth is closing its doors after four years on Crown Sydney’s 26th floor. The restaurant will continue service until its lease runs out in February 2026.

“We’re immensly proud of our team’s dedication and the exceptional standard of service they’ve delivered,” said a statement on Oncore by Clare Smyth’s Instagram account. “Being honoured with three Good Food Guide hats consecutively is a testament to them and their remarkable talent.”

“Together with Chef Clare Smyth, we have created a dining experience that sets a benchmark for excellence, and we are delighted to have shared that with so many wonderful guests.”

The restaurant opened in November 2021, following a series of setbacks as a result of NSW’s Covid lockdowns. The announcement came after Smyth had achieved three Michelin stars for her London restaurant Core, simultaneously garnering the title of the first woman to do so.

At the time, Smyth said the fine diner would “build upon the success of Core”. “It seems fitting to call it ‘Oncore’ — a play on the word ‘encore’ meaning a follow-on performance demanded by the audience,” said Smyth.

In October this year, Smyth shared an Instagram post congratulating her Sydney team after its success in the 2025 Good Food Guide awards. “I’m so proud and grateful for our incredible team in Sydney whose dedication and passion shine every single day. A huge thank you to our amazing suppliers and loyal guests,” she wrote. “Congratulations to Alan Stuart for your outstanding leadership and commitment from day one, helping us maintain excellence in everything we do.”

The restaurant will run its final service on 28 February, 2026. A limited number of reservations are available.
