The City of Sydney is calling on venues to share their “vibe” in a new pilot programme.
The local government authority says it wants to showcase the incredible energy of venues in the area, from late-night eats and live music, to everything else in between.
The pilot, which started on 1 October and will run to 1 January 2026, will feature short videos or event hosts on their Instagram account which has more than 265,000 followers.
“It’s a simple way to get your brand in front of thousands of locals and visitors, and highlight the city’s nightlife and culture together,” says the City of Sydney.
To take part, operators must capture a 10-second clip that shows their venue’s vibe. The City of Sydney says entrants do not need professional equipment and a smartphone works perfectly if the footage is clear and steady. They added to make sure no people are clearly recognisable.
Venues can then upload their video to a form on the City of Sydney website which will be reviewed and might get featured on their Instagram.
“While we can’t guarantee every video will be published, we’ll provide feedback where we can,” they said. “If your video is selected, we’ll contact you before it goes live on our Instagram account.”
Tips for filming include taking indoor and outdoor venue footage, and using wide shots or interesting angles. To keep the footage steady, use a tripod or prop the phone up on something stable. Entrants should aim for a 10 second video and not add a timestamp or music, rather just send the raw clip. Venues can also submit more than one video to show different moments or moods.
“Atmosphere is everything,” they said.
