Cumberland City Council will use NSW Small Business Month as an opportunity to honour its diverse community with its biggest networking event of the year.
The event, Bite Into Business, will take place on Tuesday 14 October, and provides an opportunity for local small business owners and entrepreneurs to meet, collaborate, and gain valuable insights from industry experts on how to adapt and thrive in a changing business environment.
At this year’s event, punters can look forward to an evening of “connection and inspiration”, where they can meet like-minded business owners, while learning about branding, marketing, and business growth strategies. Special guest, Australian TV chef Iain “Huey” Hewitson, will also host a live cooking demonstration, followed by a question and answer session, and a meet and greet.
Cumberland Mayor Ola Hamed says this type of networking event is crucial in fostering connections within the business community, and helps to spark new ideas, joint ventures, and supply chain opportunities.
“We take great pride in our thriving, diverse economy in Cumberland, and are grateful for the essential goods and services that local businesses provide to our wider community,” says Hamed.
“Networking events like these are invaluable for business owners, offering a vital platform to forge connections with other local enterprises and combat the isolation often felt by small business owners.
“As a council, we are not just supporting local businesses, but we are also backing people with dreams, determination, and deep roots in our community. That’s what drives us.”
The council says the small business sector plays a significant role in the vibrancy of the local community and is a major driver of economic activity. There are over 27,600 businesses in the area, of which a large percentage are small businesses and local entrepreneurs contribute essential goods and services, while driving employment, innovation, and community engagement.
Their impact extends not only within Cumberland but also contributes to the overall quality of life and prosperity in Western Sydney, says the council, whose initiatives are designed to foster a strong sense of community within the business sector while attracting investment into Cumberland.
Now in its ninth year, the NSW Small Business Month is an annual event which sees a number of events held across the region.
