The internationally renowned publisher of the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants has released its latest list of the World’s 25 Best Burgers. Three Australian restaurants have made the cut.
Neil and Sam Perry’s Next Door took out the top place for Australia, coming in at number 10. The Gidley in Sydney took out 12th place, closely followed by Melbourne’s Charrd at 14.
Neil and Sam Perry’s Margaret, which neighbours Next Door in Double Bay, recently took out second place in the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants. Neil says the accolade for Next Door’s burger reflects the same award-winning meat program that underpins Margaret.
“For the cheeseburger at Next Door, we take CopperTree Farms’ beef—a mix of brisket and chuck—grind it daily and hand form the perfect 160g patty, cook it to medium, and serve it with melted American cheese, Rose mayo (spiked with umami and tomato sauce), onion and pickles in a milk bun, with the option to add fresh chilli and bacon. The secret? Only the best ingredients.”
Hundred Burgers in Valencia, Spain topped the list, followed by Bleeker Burger and Black Bear Burger, both in London.
“With the World’s 25 Best Burgers, we wanted to shine a light on one of the most universally loved dishes and the incredible diversity of burger culture around the world,” says Ekkehard Knobelspies, CEO and publisher of the rankings.
“From Valencia to Sydney, from New York to Tokyo, this list is a celebration of creativity, passion and quality.”
Next Door is launching a takeaway cheeseburger option from mid-October.
“We want to give more people the opportunity to enjoy it, whether that be on the go, at home or at work, in the park or at the beach,” he says.
